 Hello everyone!
For us humans, "jealousy" and "envy" are truly our greatest enemies.

Today, I wanted to share some thoughts on how we can shield ourselves from jealousy and protect our peace of mind. For this post, I am focusing specifically on how to handle things in the online world (such as social media, blogs, and YouTube).

To jump straight to the conclusion: stop putting up a useless resistance by getting angry at haters or trying to make yourself look flawless! There are much smarter, easier ways to protect yourself.

A popular YouTuber once shared a very real story in one of their videos. They said, "I worked incredibly hard to grow my subscriber count and managed to make an average of 300,000 yen a month. But gaining popularity also means you need the mental grit to endure a massive amount of cyberbullying."

It is so true. Once you start getting noticed, envious people inevitably show up and start throwing senseless insults your way. They will say whatever they want, like "Your video editing is boring," "I hate your voice," or "Your laugh is annoying."

From an objective standpoint, the people writing those malicious comments are the ones who look pathetic... but unfortunately, people like that will always exist.

So, what kind of people are most likely to be targeted by envy online?
It is those who appear absolutely perfect and flawless.

Whether it is beauty, high education, a high income, or popularity—the list goes on. People who seem to have a perfectly blessed life are easy targets for envy and attack. Trying to fight back by saying, "But I am perfect!" is a useless resistance that only fuels their jealousy.

This is why, somewhat strategically, deliberately showing just one vulnerable or unfortunate side of yourself can sometimes free you from the worst of the jealousy.

  • You are beautiful and wealthy, but you are actually divorced.
  • You are rich and famous, but you are a bit overweight and self-conscious about your looks.

When you show a "flaw" or a relatable vulnerability like this, you suddenly become a much harder target for envy.

Have you ever read the famous Japanese short story The Nose by Ryunosuke Akutagawa?
The protagonist is a Buddhist priest with an incredibly long, ugly nose. At first, everyone pitied him and treated him with kindness. But one day, after he miraculously managed to shorten his nose into a normal, handsome shape, the people around him suddenly turned cold and started gossiping behind his back. It is a brilliant illustration of human psychology.

To survive in the online world, it is highly effective to keep an "endearing weakness" as a secret item in your character toolkit. We all know people who might be a bit mischievous but are impossible to hate because they radiate a certain human warmth.

Even if someone is wealthy and famous, they might be lonely without a close family. Revealing these kinds of human weaknesses doesn't just help you avoid jealousy; it's vital for showing your humanity and building a deep, genuine connection with your audience.

When you face cyberbullying or hate online, the best thing you can do these days is simply press the "Block" button. Stop wasting your energy on a useless resistance by trying to argue back.

If you have the mental strength to ignore them, block those toxic accounts one after another. Then, keep doing your thing—smiling and staying beautifully unbothered, as if nothing ever happened. (Of course, if you ever receive messages that are threatening or make you feel unsafe, please do not hesitate to contact the police immediately).

When you look at the "Law of Vibration," keeping yourself in a fun, positive energetic state naturally distances you from negative people.

That being said, when you reach the level of a mega-celebrity like HIKAKIN, the sheer volume of "Dislikes" and hate comments you receive is astronomical compared to someone doing YouTube just as a hobby.

In moments like that, the ultimate superpower is being able to dismiss it instantly, thinking, "Ah, they are just jealous," or "Well, it takes all kinds to make a world."

I remember a female YouTuber who once received a hurtful comment saying people hated her laugh. In a later video, she cheerfully addressed it, saying:
"It made me realize I still have a lot of things to learn and work on. But so many people tell me they absolutely love my laugh, so I’m just really happy!"
She said this while letting out her trademark laugh, completely unbothered.

Seeing her attitude—essentially saying, "I am not giving this hate a single second of my time"—was deeply impressive. When your armor against hate is that strong, the trolls realize they aren't getting the reaction they wanted, and they will likely never post on her channel again.

Whether it is YouTube or a blog, that space is your very own show and your unique website. No matter what the outsiders say, you can simply ignore them.

(Now, if this were happening within a physical workplace or company, that is a different story! In that case, do not carry the burden alone—make sure to consult a trusted boss or friend).

Creating content online can sometimes feel like a lonely battle. That is exactly why you shouldn't waste your precious energy resisting or fighting back against the noise. To keep yourself healthy and well, hold onto a strong personal policy of "I will walk my own path," and keep expressing your wonderful world with joy today!
