Effort Leads to No Good Outcomes
Hello everyone!
Today, I wanted to share some thoughts on "effort"—something we have all been taught to believe in blindly.
To jump straight to the conclusion: putting in effort rarely brings any good outcomes!
This is because effort always comes with pain. "Putting in effort" and "doing your best" may sound similar, but they are completely different. To truly do your best and keep going, the absolute prerequisite is that you must enjoy what you do.
The Fixed Ideology of Praising Effort
From a very young age, we are ruled by various societal "common senses."
We are told, "If you don't put in the effort, you won't get into a good university," forcing us to study subjects we absolutely hate.
We are taught, "If you don't put in the effort, you won't get promoted," leading us to endure endless overtime and suck up to our bosses.
However, the only thing we actually win at the end of such painful effort is a tiny piece of praise from society for our "virtue."
Right now, the Earth we live on is undergoing a massive, invisible transformation.
- The "materialistic common sense" that only pursues visible results and possessions.
- The mindset of believing everything taught by schools and parents is absolute truth.
- A rigid academic-background-oriented society, along with age and gender discrimination.
- The strong worldview that "effort never betrays you."
All of these are old, outdated thought patterns that keep our minds tightly shackled.
But does putting in effort really guarantee a good result?
No, it doesn't. In fact, if you expect too much from your effort, the shock of things not going your way will be immeasurably deep. If that is the case, it is much better to approach things with a lighthearted attitude from the very beginning, thinking, "It's only natural if it doesn't work out." That way, things tend to flow much more smoothly.
We often use the word "absolute," but there is no such thing as "100% absolute" in this world.
If you keep forcing yourself through painful effort, a terrifying version of the "Law of Attraction" starts to kick in. The universe looks at your energy and misunderstands your desires:
"Ah, I see! You love being in painful situations so much? Alright, then let me present you with even more hardships to struggle through! I'll give you this, and that, and everything!"
Before you know it, your painful situations multiply. The old Japanese saying, "Misfortunes never come singly" (literally, a wasp stings a crying face), perfectly nails the truth of this law of attraction. It is absolutely true.
The "awakened world" that is coming only opens its doors to those who are purely enjoying their lives.
Do not make an effort—instead, enjoy.
Feeling genuinely excited and thinking, "This is so much fun!" or "I really want to try this!" indicates your true, heaven-sent talent.
Because you are genuinely enjoying yourself, brilliant ideas naturally pour out of your brain. You don't feel like you are putting in any effort at all; you completely lose track of time, and whether it is work or anything else, everything progresses effortlessly.
It is time for us to break out of the box of fixed ideas.
There is absolutely no need to pull the handbrake by thinking, "I have to do something useful for others," or "I feel guilty enjoying myself alone." Above all else, you should prioritize doing what you truly want to do.
This is because we are programmed from birth to feel happy when we make others happy. The very sight of you being completely immersed in what you love will naturally ripple out and benefit others in the long run.
Useless Effort is Also "Divine Love" Leading to Awakening
This world is made entirely of "love." If we call that mass of love "God," then we ourselves are God.
We are love itself, deeply immersed within love—and because of that, ironically, we usually fail to notice its existence. It's like a wave in the ocean not realizing it is an inseparable part of the ocean itself.
However, everything that happens to you ultimately guides you toward "Non-duality"—the truth that everything is one. Everything that happens whispers to you, "You are already living in the true world."
Even the experience mentioned in today's title—"I put in effort, but it led to no good outcomes"—is actually a vital part of the process of realizing Non-duality.
"Putting in effort, suffering, not getting good results, feeling frustrated..."
Each of these facts, emotions, and events guides us toward the ultimate world of enlightenment. Therefore, your past efforts were never a bad thing.
Suffering begins only when you create a story around it and cling to it, thinking, "I failed the exam," or "I lost out." In the first place, a simple equation like "Effort = Success" doesn't exist in this universe.
To give you a clear example of my own failure, let’s talk about "dieting" (laughs).
At one point, I went to the gym and put a massive amount of effort into training with weight machines and treadmills. However, after all that brutal effort, I actually ended up gaining weight!
The reason was simple: the intense workouts made me so incredibly thirsty that I ended up chugging sweet juices.
At first, the weight was dropping fast, and I was thrilled, thinking, "Oh, it's working!" But I eventually gave in to the temptation of juice. What I felt most deeply during that whole experience was simply, "Wow, that was truly painful."
When humans experience excessive stress, they try to compensate for that mental void by distracting themselves with another form of pleasure (in my case, it was juice). Conversely, when you are doing something you genuinely love, you naturally lose weight without even trying. You get so completely absorbed in what excites you that you even forget to eat.
Through this experience, I completely stopped putting in effort. After all, "effort" has betrayed me in rather terrible ways in the past (laughs).
But once I stopped forcing effort and focused only on "fun things," incredible synchronicities (meaningful coincidences) started happening one after another. Just by casually browsing the internet, information or things that I would desperately need later on would suddenly jump out at me at the most perfect, exquisite timing.
Please stop forcing yourself into any kind of effort that brings pain.
You only live once. My personal belief is that there is no reincarnation.
That is precisely why you should immerse yourself 100% in what you find fun, without being shackled by old common sense or suffering from guilt.
By doing just that, your life will surely be flooded with wonderful synchronicities beyond anything you could ever imagine.
